Dear Fellow Researchers,

Hello fellow researchers. We are students and our names are Elizabeth, Akash, Angel, Carolyn, and Bryan. The school we go to is MacKinnon Middle School in Wharton, NJ. We are in sixth grade. We are working on the Noonday project. We are measuring the circumference of the earth.

We are working on the project today. The teachers that are helping us are Mrs. Leary, Mr. McGrail, and Ms.Corbett. The items we are using to work on the project are a plumb line, ruler, and string, bucket of sand, protractor, marker, and paper. The first person that started this experiment was Eratosthenes.

This is how we are going to do the project. We are going to lay down the items in the order. First thing you do is put a meter stick in the bucket of sand and make sure it is straight. We put the bucket of sand on the paper. Then we mark the bucket with the marker and we also mark where the meter stick is in the bucket on the paper. Then we make sure the plumb line is lying on the ruler straight not moving. Then we make a line on the paper. Next we use the string to measure the shadow. When the line is there, you use the protractor and measure and then you repeat the project.

We are done with the project and the results are: at high noon the measure was 35 degrees. It took us seven marks to get the results of high noon. Then one mark was after high noon. Now we’re waiting for results from you. Then we will find our answer.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day J

                                                                      Sincerely,

Elizabeth, Akash Angel, Carolyn, and Bryan
